Obtaining a Turkish Visa
Note that travel to Turkey on a U.S. passport requires a Visa. It is extremely easy to attain a Visa while at either of the airports servicing airports. The Visa line sits right next to where the passport line is and takes 1 to 5 minutes to finish the process, depending on how long the line is. Provide the Visa officer your passport, pay $30, and it’s done. Very simple. While there are options to arrange the purchase of a Visa prior to reaching the airport, it is not necessarily easier to do so, though pre-purchasing a Visa prior to arriving at the airport will cost $20.
Tourist & Business Visas
A Turkish Visa is a form (actually a stamp similar to a large U.S. postal stamp) issued by a Visa officer. This form is placed in your passport to show the traveler has met the requirements for admission to Turkey. A Visa may be for a single entry, for multiple entries, or for transit purposes. The tourist visa is good for a year and allows a U.S citizen to stay in Turkey for 90 days in each stay (with multiple entries) before they must depart and re-enter.
U.S citizens may obtain their tourist Visas upon entry at ANY point in Turkey or from the Turkish consulates within the U.S. Some Non-U.S Citizens need to apply for their tourist or business visas in advance BEFORE going to Turkey. Note that being a medical tourist means the traveler is on a tourist Visa, putting them in the “quick and easy” category: no muss, no fuss.

The following documents are required to be submitted for receiving a Turkish Visa:
- Visa Application Form: ”Visa application Form”
- The Visa application form should filled in legibly and clearly, in bold (capital) letters in black/blue ink only. Incomplete and illegible applications may not be processed
- Name and other relevant information must be filled in as per document instructions
- Passport:should have a minimum validity of three months from the date of application with at least two blank pages available in the passport
- Visa Fee:a non-refundable processing fee of $20 in cash or money order is required for a single entry Visa or $65 in cash or money order for a multiple-entry Visa, payable to the Turkish Embassy. No personal checks are accepted.
